Photographic Restoration & Retouching

Up until recently these services have only been offered via Edge On Art framing studio, and now you can also access these services online. This means that you now have the option of using online approvals & online payments at your convenience to have your photo's restored and/or retouched, using the latest technology & techniques to repair, enhance, or in fact 'create' your image the way you want it.

You can also share your gallery with family and friends, so they can view your images online and purchase prints from anywhere with an internet connection. All you need to do is send them an email invitation to your private gallery or share via facebook.

Here's How it Works

• Get in Touch

  ... either online ^(*1) Create an Account, ..... or visit Edge On Art for further assistance^(*2).

• Getting your images to the 'Home Tree'

  ... you can either deliver them to Edge On Art in person, or choose to Post them (negatives, slides, prints & digital formats accepted) ^(*3)

• Majick Studio will then get in touch with you

  ... this is to discuss your ideas and wishes (Wands are kept in peak condition for particularly tricky requests) NOTE: There is no obligation at this stage.

• Your Wishes are noted & quoted

  ..... You'll be emailed a written quote and have access to the 'My Account' area of the gallery. If you choose to go ahead & have your images professionally restored or retouched, simply use the payment information provided on the quote to make the majick happen. ^{(*4 & 5)}.

• The wand is waved and Majick is worked

  ... Your Images are professionally retouched / restored and once they are available for approval you will recieve an email directing you to the 'My Account' section of the Majick Studio gallery. Here you'll be able to view & approve your images (or you may request a different wand be used: "a revision") ^(*6)

• Order your Prints or digital images

  ... your images are then added to a private gallery where you may order your prints in various sizes on either premium gloss paper or canvas. together with your free screen resolution downloadable image ^{(*7 & 8)}

• Share your images ...

  there is an option within the gallery to invite your family & friends to view your gallery via facebook or send them an email with all the information they'll need to see your photos.

Below are some favourite restorations ~ thanks to the owners of these images for their use here so that you're able to see what is possible with your photos with real examples

This photo of an old car and 3 gentlemen was a difficult restoration that took a lot of time but this is one of the best examples to show you that even such a folded and torn mess of a photo can be faithfully restored

The next 2 images below are photos of photos. The original was captured in the late 1800's. The originals are sometimes very fragile at this age, so it's a great alternative ... however, overall size of the restored image may not be as large with poor quality images (always set your camera to the largest possible file size when attempting this)

this image is from a 25yr old negative, and although it has been stored correctly, it has many small scratches and missing spots which happens in many cases just from the aging process - slides and negatives are printed on transparent film and are particularly vulnerable to scratches and discolouration from age .... if you have irreplaceable slides at home it's recommended that you have them transfered to a high resolution digital image ASAP to avoid further data loss

This family image was taken from an old print which had faded and yellowed, as they tend to do over time, to the point where it was almost lost .... some of the finer details are now non-existent, but with a little majick this image will now survive for future generations to enjoy.

This posed image of a Soldier is taken from a small (presumed defence issue) 1/2 postcard size image, sent home to family members with a telling tale hand written on the reverse side .... a real treasure from history

Retouching is also great for those who captured that special moment that just can't be re-enacted ... but it's just not how you want it remembered ~ there are many things that can be done to an image, and once you have seen what is possible, you may never believe photographic evidence again ... then again no one will ever know unless you let them in on your secret.
